 Description

This is the first monument dedicated to Mossen Cinto Verdaguer, created by the sculptor Eugeni Aranu.
It is located on the summit known as Ses Pedres Lluidores, 20 minutes from the hermitage. At the base there is a flight of steps and a heap of natural rocks. At the peak, the right hand of an angel with its wings extended points towards the road leading to the hermitage of Sant Pere del Bosc, while the left hand holds a star.
The body of the work features a stone relief on each side. The side facing the sea, which is the principal side, represents Nuestra Señora de Gràcia (Our Lady of Grace) and at her feet there is a bronze medallion with an effigy of Mossen. Cinto, modelled by Arnau, and the popular Verdaguerian quatrain: "María al Cel guia / per camí de flors / anem-hi, correm-hi, cantant sos amors." The artistic portion of the monument was planned and directed by Montsardà. The sculpture part is by Federico Bechine, based on the Arnau model, and the decorative sculpture is by Joan Pujol.
